ARCH1101: Experiment 2 Submission

  • Theory
The integration of elements, including the transformation between layers, the            connections among parts, and the relationships between voids and solids,                  could contribute to the circulation and movement of the architecture which                would maximize its value both artistically and functionally.

                                                  The Rotating Walls

The three rotating walls open to the bridge connecting the school to the law building. At any angle, the rotation of the walls creates unique images by integrating the voids and solids, and visually overlapping the textures from inside.

The Spaning Glass Shelter

The spanning glass shelter provides shelter to the openning seats on the bridge to the Law building.  Within a range of distance, the geometry could span into any shape randomly. This scheme demonstrates the integration achieved by overlapping and interacting layers. It benefits the architecture both aesthetically and functionally.

  •    Comment
The school was consisted of three different layers while each having its unique arrangement of voids and solids. To be specific, an underneath layer, an openning layer, and a closed layer were combined together. Two overflowing organic roofs applied have also improved the integration of the architecture.
